Jeremy Bleich and Andrew Brackman to pitch in 2008 Hawaiian Winter League
Just learned that Jeremy Bleich, the Yankees supplemental first round pick this season, will go out and pitch in the Hawaiian Winter League along with last season’s first round pick Andrew Brackman. Bleich was drafted by the Yankees pitcher out of Stanford University. Bleich is a 6′ 2″ 195 LHP taken with the pick given the Yankees from Colorado signing Luis Vizcaino.
Ya Gotta love when those marginal free agents sign elsewhere.
Although this would be Brackman’s professional debut, Bleich made his pro debut today. He started and went three innings for short season Staten Island giving up two runs on two hits, while striking out 4. Both hits and runs came in the first as Bleich hit a batter, gave up a two run jack to Caleb Joseph, then a double to the next batter. After that double, Bleich retired the next 7 batters. Bleich struck out Joseph to end the third and his short pro debut.
Reports are that Jeffrey Marquez, tonight’s starter for Trenton might go out to Arizona, joining Humberto Sanchez and Thunder utility man Kevin Russo.
