Trenton Thunder Game is Postponed

Quarter to 7 and the rain is still coming down. Word has it hat there is a big front which stretches from NJ to Ohio, very appropriate since their opponent is the Akron (OH) Aeros.

I definitely do not want to stay here all night, but am really interested in seeing Matt LaPorta, the Aeros #3 hitter. He was the main player traded by the Milwaukee Brewers in the CC Sabathia trade. LaPorta has hit .389 in the 2008 playoffs with 3 HR’s and 6 RBI’s. His OPS is an astounding 1.466.

While waiting for the start (or the beer vendor to come into the press box) the various media members mingled about. Robert Pimpsner, owner and editor of www.baby-bombers.com here with a freshly minted copy of the premiere issue of his magazine of the same name. It is a nice looking publication, complete with a full color, glossy cover. Features inside include a detailed interview and article on switch-pitching star of the Staten Island Yankees, Pat Venditte.

It is 7:15 and they just pulled the tarp off the field so we are definitely going to start.

More rain again and after a two hour 7 minute rain delay, the game has been cancelled. The series will resume, weather permitting, tomorrow at 6:05. If there is a Game 5, it will be played Monday evening at 6:05.

Although the Thunder were rained out, there is good news in Yankee land. The Scranton Yankees are leading the Durham Bulls 10-0 in the third inning down in Durham, NC in Game 4 of the Governor’s Cup. Phil Hughes is on the mound for the Yankees. The Yankees already lead he best of five series 2-1, so they appear well on their way to the International League Championship.
