Despite last nights debacle, if Dallas wins next week at Philadelphia, they are in the playoffs!
The Dallas Cowboys were embarrassed by the Baltimore Ravens last night on national television. Tony Romo was upstaged by Baltimore's QB Joe Flacco, who showed more toughness throughout the game than the extremely soft Romo. Although Dallas came back with two late Romo touchdown passes, their offense was stymied by the Ravens D all night. Terrell Suggs and Ray Lewis, two really good linebackers with a nose for the ball, were in Romo's face all night (especially in the second half) on well coordinated, and very effective, blitzes.
Why the Cowboys and the almighty head coach in waiting Jason Garrett did not keep running back Tashard Choice in to help with pass protection, I will never know. Romo kept dropping back to pass, and Garrett kept having Choice flare out as a safety valve receiver, when it was patently obvious he needed to stay in and help the offensive line to pick up the blitzers.
Even though the Cowboys were completely outplayed last night and seemingly had their playoff chances ended, today's results put the Cowboys back in the drivers seat for the last NFC playoff spot. With both the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Philadelphia Eagles losing today, the Cowboys control their own destiny. The Atlanta Falcons garnered the #5 seed today with their victory over the Minnesota Vikings, but if the Cowboys beat the Eagles next week in Philly (a tough task), they will get to the playoffs, as they would hold the head to head tiebreakers with Tampa and Philadelphia, and have a better conference record than the Chicago Bears.
