Anthony Claggett Promoted to New York

Before I head out to 6 hours of continuous baseball practice for three different teams, I wanted to point out that Chad Jennings has reported that Anthony Claggett has apparently been promoted to New York.

Chad Jennings is the pulse for Minor League Yankees baseball, primarily the Triple A Scranton affiliate, where he is the local beat writer.

Eric Wordekemper had arrived in Scranton from Double A Trenton, and rumors persist that Claggett, obtained in the Gary Sheffield trade, will be promoted.

Claggett demonstrated great work on the mound and terrific composure during major league camp in spring training. He last pitched three days ago when he suffered his only bad outing, giving up two earned runs and four hits in 1 inning of work.

Prior to that appearance he pitched 3 scoreless innings, striking out five.

Since many ineffective bullpen guys around MLB without options are being DFA’d (Phil Humber - Twins, Blaine Boyer - Braves), I am speculating that Jose Veras will also be DFA’d and the Yankees might hope he passes through waivers.

Even if he doesn’t, Veras is not that good.

Juan Miranda, Ramiro Pena and maybe Phil Coke (only because he threw yesterday) are also candidates for demotion.
